This week I saw something very super exciting so, I bought something super exciting! 😀
I will reveal what it is a little later in the post…to keep you intrigued and curious.
One thing that I really admire about European countries, a country like Russia, Kazan, are their love for the arts! There’s constantly new posters of the newest, upcoming shows on, at the theatres, bus stops, metro stations, shops etc. Some don’t even say a date, they just say it’s “Wednesday” this time and place, and so you know. Some could be in the next week, next month, some (most) just for one day only, others one or two shows and the very rare one week show. Not all bus stopes have the exact same posters, because there is just too many shows.
I haven’t had chance to go to too many shows, performances, yet…I mean, I am on a student budget and I’m a student…we are supposed to be studying you know. 😀
The different theatres I’ve had the chance to go to:
- Went to watch Romeo and Juliet, performed by The Imperial Russian Ballet. (Was so nice to see old friends again…after about 5 years since I toured Spain with them!)
- You’ve seen my little videos of performances that I’ve seen in the university theatre and other musical performances (Orchestra)
- I’ve been to the cinema twice now. Watching movies in Russian is surely different than in English or Afrikaans, a language I understand. Although I don’t yet understand every single word, I understand much more than I used to and can even laugh along at the funny parts. Plus, it’s really not that hard to follow the story line.
The most recent time I went, was on Friday. It was so nice!
I still really want to go watch a traditional dance or music show at the Theatre right around the corner of the hostel.
It’s right here and it’s actually a shame that I’ve never been. And look whats on the walls…more ads of the latest and upcoming events! They are also constantly changing!
- Not a theater, but art related. Art related museums and galleries. I know museums are not everyone’s cup of tea. I won’t say I’m crazy about museums, but I do admire the art in those museums/galleries….even non art museums like history museums. We had the opportunity to visit two museums in the months being here. The Porcelain Museum and the National Gallery of Art in the Kremlin!

And now….what you all have been waiting for!!! The very exciting thing I saw and bought!
Well I wouldn’t say I bought “IT” but I bought a “part” of it. A ticket!!! 😀
I bought a ticket to…..
CIRQUE DU SOLEIL!!!
They will be here in May for five days and when I saw the poster and looked online the same day, out of curiosity, tickets were almost sold out for all five days! Keep in mind that this was probably within a day or two of the poster being up. So, I asked my roomie if she is interested and she said yes! We decided to get tickets as there was no wasting time. I can now say, with excitement boiling in me, I’m going to see Cirque du Soleil, “OVO” on the 26 of May!!!!!! 😀 I’ve always wanted to see them, but I thought it would always only be through the TV, but now I get to see them live!!!
One day I hope to go do these things with my family, especially Cirque du Soleil, because I know they also burn to see them live!
I hope that you all had a lovely week and will have an even better one this week!
Talk to you all later!
To Live is to Dance
