Laughter is the best medicine and has genuine health benefits!
When last did you enjoy a nice cup of laughter? And I mean laughter that actually comes from your tummy and later starts to hurt so much you can’t breath. Oh just laugh and get those cheeks moving!
After last weeks serious post, I thought I will keep it light and happy this week.
I was struggling to come up with any ideas when I was doing research on some topics. I kept on getting distracted by videos and photos that gave me a good laugh. Eventually the lightbulb went off!!!
We all need more laughter in our lives and here is why:

1) Laughter relaxes the whole body
(Okay except your stomach muscles – 6 pack here you come!) When you have a laugh, a good hearty laugh, it relieves physical tension and stress. It can leave your muscles relaxed for up to 45 minutes after your “laughing session”.
2) It boosts the immune system
So you know how I mentioned laughing releases tension and stress? Well when stress hormones decreases, immune cells and infection-fighting antibodies increase. Ta-da! Thus improving your resistance to disease.
3) Laughter burns calories
Wait what? Bring on the jokes! Okay, okay it’s no replacement for going to the gym but there is a study that found that laughing for 10-15 minutes a day can burn about 40 calories.
4) Diffuses anger
Laughter can diffuse anger and conflict faster with a shared laugh. Just look at the funny side. It can be hard but take a deep breath and before you say your next word, smile and then smile some more. When you smile and stay calm it can put problems into perspective and enable you to move on from confrontations without holding onto bitterness or resentment.
I am no doctor but there is a ton of information about how laughter can be beneficial. So don’t take my word for it, do your own research or even better – laugh and see for yourself.
